Permanent Hair Reduction

Permanent Hair Reduction using intense pulsed light is a safe and effective way to reduce unwanted facial and body hair for men and women. Most commonly treated areas are the face, underarms, bikini area, back, chest and legs. IPL hair reduction works by directing the laser light to group of hair follicles, using enough power to disable or destroy the root without harming the surrounding skin. This process is called selective photothermolysis. It is selective because it targets only the hair and not the skin. Photo means light and thermolysis means destroying with heat.

The Result: A 50-80% (or better) reduction in unwanted hair. Hair is natural to your body and it grows in stages. At any given time, not all hairs are growing and IPL technology is most effective at targeting the growing hairs. In practice, no machine destroys all of the hair follicles. Some follicles are destroyed while others are miniaturized into fine hairs, and others are shocked into prolonged dormancy. Multiple treatments are needed for best results, and the best interval for retreatment depends on the hair cycle growth patterns in that area of the body. With a sufficient number of treatments, true permanent hair removal can ideally be achieved but not for every single hair present in a given area. Influencing factors that must be considered for success include age, ethnicity, weight, metabolism, medication and hormones. These factors play a role in the location, resilience and thickness of hair.
